Signs of the Time

Charlie has started painting the 319; most of the upper half of the south side has been given a first coat of grey primer. So progress is being made. (R) Here he is doing more sanding on one of the ends of the car.

I shimmed up the last of the side bearings, so that job is done. I also connected all of the motor leads and visually inspected the motors and the compressor. And I put a second coat of finish color on the four windows shown last time; when dry, they will be ready for installation.

In other news, the newly restored South Shore sign from Gary has been installed in place and wired up. It's not obvious from a still, of course, but the row of lights below the cars flashes rapidly, giving the illusion of motion. You have to see it to believe it. Update: And Dave sends a link to this video!
